The Harry Potter actor has designed the next best thing – a Target play store – filled with toy merchandise that she can ‘pretend’ to purchase in her home. Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Rupert shared that Wednesday’s love for the chain began when they lived in Philadelphia – and it is among several things that the two-year-old grew to enjoy. But who can blame her? Some Target deals (opens in new tab) are hard not to love. Rupert shared that his daughter is into ‘so many things’ but is slightly struggling to adjust to her new UK life. ‘She spent most of her time in America, so she’s missing some cultural things,’ he says. ‘She does love Philly. She loves hoagies; she loves water ice. And I mean the big one is Target. She is obsessed with Target,’ Rupert says. ‘She’d choose that over going to the park or zoo. But she loves going to different Targets and seeing how the layout is kind of slightly different.’ The actor, his wife, actress Georgia Groome (from Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging) and daughter resided in Philadelphia while Rupert filmed his new show, Servant. Therefore, Wednesday lived on the East Coast for most of her life until the family moved to Hertfordshire in southern England. ‘Sometimes she doesn’t buy anything; she just wants to kind of browse,’ Rupert adds. ‘The toy aisle is definitely a draw, but she’s more into lip balm, to be fair.’ To ensure Wednesday doesn’t forget about Target too soon, Rupert created a mini version in their family home. The setup came complete with mini gift cards, a credit card machine, and a conveyor belt where Wednesday can scan her customers’ items. ‘I think I’ve definitely captured the essence,’ Rupert joked while Jimmy Fallon laughed alongside the actor. ‘It was one of the most difficult conversations, telling her she lives in a country that doesn’t have Target… I’ve shown her our kind of equivalent, but it doesn’t hold up.’ We admit we may be more interested in Target’s coffee makers and their collection with Joanna Gaines (opens in new tab) (firmly among our favorite celebrity homeware brands) than lip balm and toys. However, it’s good to know that Wednesday Grint is learning the wonders of shopping at an early age.
