‘When we first met, there were still a few unpacked boxes and a collection of furniture that wasn’t quite right,’ says Joan Enger. ‘We spent the better part of our initial meetings discussing how they wanted their home to function,’ recalls Joan. ‘With two middle school children and a dog, they wanted the space to be somewhat “kid friendly”, yet elegant and pulled together in keeping with their lifestyle.’ See:Design house: a modern and sophisticated East Coast residence, designed by Jamie Bush
LIVING ROOM
With the incredible Central Park views, the interior designer decided to keep the palette serene and let the backdrop serve as the drama. Much of the furniture was custom made including the magnificent pair of gunmetal and glass étagères in the living room, which were inspired by a vintage pair from Mallet.
DINING ROOM
‘The husband, an advertising executive, was extremely in tune to the finishes and details and pushed us when he thought we might be playing it a bit too safe,’ says Joan. ‘It was refreshing to explore new forms and turn to vintage favourites for inspiration.’
KITCHEN-DINER
Evoking purity and cleanliness alongside confidence and sophistication, white is a wonderfully versatile colour for interiors.
BEDROOM
