The #CutPleatRepeat exhibition aptly combines both Deirdre and Richard’s talents through the theme of pleats – with particular inspiration taken from birds in flight. Folded paper and three-dimensional form both feature in Deirdre Dyson’s current collection of hand-knotted pieces – while Richard has an interest in shape dynamics from the movement he observes. Throughout the exhibition, Richard will take over Deirdre’s multi-storied Kings Road gallery to exhibit eight new paper sculptures throughout the property. The 3-D artist will also showcase a statement centerpiece window installation that measures over two meters by two meters in the atrium between multiple floors.  Alongside Richard’s pieces, the event will display the artistry of Deirdre Dyson’s rugs that begin life on her drawing table or easel. Her bespoke designs are curated in the Chelsea showroom before coming to life by artisans in Nepal. These creative similarities mean there is perfect synergy in the collaboration. The exhibition simultaneously signifies the start of The Chelsea Design Quarter Autumn Design Trail – which offers the chance to shop and steal interior design tips from the people at the peak of the industry.  Further to #CutPleatRepeat, other Kings Road showrooms, including Haute Deco, Argile, Reed Harris, and Waterworks, will hold events that celebrate the best of home decor and design.  #CutPleatRepeat will take place at Deirdre Dyson’s Gallery (554 King’s Road SW6 2DZ) from November 1st to January 14th, 2022. There is also an opportunity to meet Deirdre Dyson and Richard Sweeney on November 4th, from 2-4 pm. #CutPleatRepeat also coincides with the publication of Richard’s new Paper Sculpture (opens in new tab) book, which is available at Waterstones. H&G readers can pre-order Paper Sculpture by emailing sales@gazellebooks.com and including the code PAPER21 to receive 25% off your purchase from November 1st - November 30th, 2021. We have already restructured our future living room ideas to feature Deirdre’s latest collection – it’s a date we certainly won’t be missing.
